Belmont Road boys

My friend.  Over the past year, thankfully we made up for lost time.  We slipped in to our friendship again after so many years apart.  You remembered my birthday and I remembered yours.  Our memories of Belmont Road remained intact - you remembered my Nanny Mary and my Auntie Janet that I lived with at number 15.  You were my first friend when I came from London and I called for you every morning on our way to Battle Juniors.  You called for me when we changed to Alfred Sutton senior school and we travelled to east side of Reading on the number 17 bus every single day.  We played in the same rugby, football and cricket representative teams all the way through. You got us both a Saturday job with Marley DIY on the Oxford Road, when it first opened. When we finished school and started work, we still played squash together at the Bank of England sports centre in Roehampton.  You remembered that we broke down on the M4 once in my clapped out Hillman Imp and rescued by Graham in his Austin 1100.  Alas we then lost touch, but since made up for it.  The recent times were fantastic man. We managed to laugh such a lot and even went for a walk down the Oxford Road, up Belmont Road, along Prince of Wales Avenue and back down Edinburgh Road.  We were both totally knackered by it, but completely fulfilled.  I'll get the courage one day to look at the video footage I recorded of that day the 10 November 2021.  You were the most wonderful friend and a true inspiration to me over the past year. It has been such a wonderful experience.  I've posted the Battle Junior football team photo that we both loved when we brought it out again. One of the good guys in this crazy world.    Love you man.   Steve
